These training courses are designed to meet the requirements of the Public Funds Investment Act. The law requires the designated investment officer of a district governed by Chapter 36 or Chapter 49 of the Texas Water Code to attend six hours of initial training within twelve months after taking office or assuming duties and four hours of renewal training every two years thereafter. Treasurers, CFOs and investment officers for other political subdivisions, such as municipalities, counties, school districts, hospital districts, must attend at least 10 hours of training within twelve months after taking office or assuming duties and at least 10 hours of additional training every two years thereafter.
Nonprofit water supply or sewer service corporations are not required by law to attend any PFIA training sessions. However, WSCs benefit greatly from the investment training provided in these classes.
Those needing 10-hours of training may take the initial and renewal courses to satisfy the requirements.
Certificates will be provided to those who complete either course reflecting hours of attendance.
CPAs please note: Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits are no longer available through this course.
